Movie Review : Mufasa - The Lion King.
I finally emerged from my ridiculously busy schedule to finish watching this movie... and by 'finally', I mean it took me a whopping 6 days! Yep, you read that right - 6 whole days to watch one movie. Don't judge me, I've been busy!
After reading countless reviews of this movie, I felt motivated to share my own thoughts. I must confess: until the very end, I couldn't tell Mufasa and Taka apart, until Taka betrayed Mufasa- both lions looked alike to me! And don't even get me started on the lionesses. This is probably why I've never been a fan of K-dramas, where everyone seems to blend together.
What I love about the movie.
I love that it started with Rafiki sharing the story, and the little humor Timon and Pumbaa were serving us. I admire Mufasa's bravery and strength and I firmly believe that he deserved to be a king. I also loved Mufasa and Taka's friendship highlighted in the movie.
In my perspective, Taka's character didn't demonstrate the qualities of a worthy king. He had opportunities to prove himself, particularly when his mother's life was in danger, but he fell short. In contrast, Mufasa's actions seemed motivated by a desire to do what was right, rather than a desire to betray his friend or usurp Taka's birthright. To me, Mufasa's intentions appeared genuine, and his decisions were driven by a sense of responsibility and justice, rather than a lust for power.
The movie touches on themes of unity, jealousy, importance of family bonds and the voice acting brought emotions to the characters. The music -- I found 2 songs very captivating which are ; "Bye-bye" and " I Always Wanted A Brother".
What I didn't like.
I'm not sure I felt so satisfied with the story, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story, it felt like there were some missed opportunities to dive deeper into the characters.
Rating.
4/5 stars.
