So here are the three books;
• Clique Here by Anna Staniszewski.
• Camp Clique by Eileen Moskowitz Palma.
• Garvey's Choice by Nikki Grimes.
Here's a quick review:
1. Clique Here by Anna Staniszewski.
"Clique Here" is a beautifully written and engaging book that lays emphasis on friendship, identity and self acceptance. It talks about a girl named Lily, who is a science enthusiast, and her best friend Kat. However an humiliating incident made Lily switch schools for a fresh start. She starts a new identity as Blake and decides to embark on a social experiment to climb the popularity ladder at her new school.This book will be good for kids or teens who's ever felt like an outcast or struggled with their identity in a school setting. I enjoyed the vividness of the author's storytelling. The author's ability to immerse readers in the story, and crafting such a wonderful story that effortlessly captures the challenges of school life is commendable.
2. Camp Clique by Eileen Moskowitz Palma.
"Camp clique" is a juvenile fiction novel that lays emphasis on the complexities of friendship, belonging and the pursuit of popularity. The book talks about a young girl called Bea, who experiences a sudden loss of friendship and a sense of belonging as she enters the summer before seventh grade. Her former friend, Maisy, who has become her worst enemy, suddenly shows up at Camp Amelia and to make matters worse, they end up as bunkmates.
Maisy's presence disrupts Bea's plans to enjoy a peaceful summer, and Bea finds herself torn between her desire to fit in and her longing for genuine connections.
"Camp clique" is a nice book that'll help young readers to reflect on the true nature of friendship and the importance of staying true to one self, it provides valuable lessons about the consequences of sacrificing individuality for the sake of popularity.
3. Garvey's Choice by Nikki Grimes.
"Garvey's Choice" is a powerful and touching novel that delves into the life of Garvey, a young boy who faces the constant pressure to conform to his father's athletic expectations. However, Garvey's true passions lie in astronomy, science fiction, and reading, rather than sports. Struggling with feelings of inadequacy, he seeks solace in food, leading to his being overweight and enduring bullying, which leaves him feeling isolated and alone.
As Garvey finds his voice within the chorus, the story takes a heartwarming turn. This book tackles important themes such as self-acceptance, friendship, and the pursuit of one's passions. I'll recommend to readers of all ages.
